BNAP Foundation Marks a Decade with Mind Your Posture
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, BNAP Foundation presents Mind Your Posture, a mini-retrospective group exhibition at Everard Read Circa Gallery. The exhibition runs from 14 November to 12 December 2026 and brings together past award winners and significant artists from the Foundation's network.
The exhibition marks ten years of supporting emerging South African artists through visibility, mentorship and professional development. Its theme is the often-unseen relationship between preparation and opportunity, and what it takes to position yourself for the future you imagine.
In everyday language, posture is how we carry ourselves. The exhibition extends the idea beyond the body, treating posture as a state of readiness: a way of thinking, working and positioning yourself for what is to come. It invites audiences to consider how discipline, intention, resilience, vision and spiritual alignment shape our personal and professional aspirations.
BNAP Foundation has spent the past decade creating platforms for artists to develop their practices, gain recognition and access opportunities. Mind Your Posture proposes that opportunity alone does not build a career. It is the combination of preparation, artistic commitment, mentorship, community and determination that allows artists to meet opportunity with purpose.Through the works and journeys of the participating artists, the exhibition traces how their practices evolved before and after recognition. It shows the sustained effort, experimentation and transformation that often stay hidden behind moments of success.
Rather than presenting success as a single moment of arrival, the exhibition treats it as an ongoing process of preparation, growth and change. It asks audiences to consider not only where they hope to go, but how they are preparing to get there.
As BNAP Foundation enters its next decade, Mind Your Posture celebrates the artists who have shaped its journey and the possibilities that open up when talent, opportunity and readiness meet.
